Mamma Mia celebrates familial love through lively, danceable tunes

More by this author

This Valentines season, Beef and Boards Dinner Theater is offering an opportunity to celebrate the most impactful love of all: the love of family. Their most recent production, Mamma Mia, tells the story of a young girl on the quest to find her biological father before her quickly approaching wedding day, with the hope that he would walk her down the isle.Ā

I recently had the opportunity to enjoy this riveting ABBA-inspired musical, and I had a blast. The production is full of catchy tunes and upbeat chorography. If you happen to have seen the 2008Ā romantic comedy by the same name, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that the stage production has similar scenes and with a few additional tunes. The setting, a Greek island paradise, comes to life on stage and is the closet thing I have found to a tropical vacation amidst the snowy, Indiana winter.Ā

An equally important aspect of any dinner theater experience is the food, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The buffet included mediterranean baked chicken, slow-roasted pork tenderloin and baked tilapia. I also enjoyed the fruit & salad bar, corn, wild rice and vegetables available. The dessert was my favorite part. I had my fill of a Turtle Cookie Dough Ice Cream Pie, which I will make a note of ordering again if I return to Beef and Boards.Ā

Mamma Mia is on stage until April 8, 2018, making it the perfect celebratory outing for lovers and families alike. Tickets start a $44 and a $6 discount per ticket is available for children ages 3-15. All tickets must be purchased through the box office at 317-872-9664.
