Dr. Jennifer McCormick was the last elected Indiana superintendent of instruction in Indiana. After her term, the position was renamed Secretary of Education and shifted from an elected position to an appointed position.
Although McCormick was elected as a Republican candidate, her bid for governor is on the Democratic ticket.
Shortly after leaving office, McCormick became more vocal on social media. From her Twitter account, she now spends time informing the public about issues she believes should be of concern.
In part, the caption below her announcement video states, “Now, I’m running for governor of Indiana because it’s time to put Hoosiers first. I will bring common sense and bipartisanship back to the statehouse. I’ve already proved I will stand up to out-of-touch policies that are destroying public education, stripping Hoosiers of their rights and freedoms, and leaving rural communities behind.”
