It was a song we sang with godly pride, as a declaration of faith and an affirmation of expectancy. At that time, it simply made sense. It made sense to sing a song of encouragement. It made sense to sing a song that reminds us to stay in a place of hope because regardless of what we may be going through at the moment, we have something better to look forward to on the other side of through. On the contrary, I believe it is safe to say we are not always going through something. I also believe we have to be mindful to not just expect that the best will come (at a later time), but recognize the best is possible even now. Could it be that we look so far forward and are so future minded that we neglect the gift of the present? Not only is it that we potentially miss the gift of the present, but we can also miss the best that is happening in the present. Why would God be limited to the best happening in the next moment, when Ephesians 3:20 tells us God is able to do exceeding, abundantly above what we ask or think? Though there is no timeframe given in the text of when God will do this, we know God can bring the words of the text into existence, at any given moment, especially the current one. As such, what if God makes a way for the best to happen now, not later? Or what if God makes a way for the best to happen now and later (did you catch that)? Even more, because of how amazing God is, the best can happen all the time. It is a matter of perspective. While we want the best to happen in the future, we dare not negate the reality of the best being our experience in real time. Let%u2019s add another thought to our consideration of this faithful phrase. God is so intentional and cares so much about us, that God will outdo God%u2019s own actions, and supersede what we thought was the best. Another song comes to mind that speaks of every round going higher and higher. That is how our faith and hope in God should be. By faith, we should level up our perspective of the best and give God something to work with, something for God to exceed abundantly. So, instead of the best that is yet to come being a new experience we have been looking forward to, let%u2019s change the narrative and let the best that is yet to come, be an experience that surpasses the best one we already had. God is able to do it. Are we ready to accept it?Contact Rev. Rae Karim at rae.karim@gmail.com.The best is yet to comeBy Wilson Casey 1.
