A good job is more than just a paycheck. Good jobs are essential for a strong economy, family and community.
Unfortunately, a good job is still out of reach for too many Hoosiers. While BlackĀ unemployment is at historic lowsĀ nationally, it continues to lag behind every other major racial or ethnic group.Ā In addition to higher unemployment rates, Black workers only earn 82 cents on every dollar white workers make. Ā
Ā As your Representative, I work to ensure that everyone who wants a job in our community has one and that workers are able to earn a fair and equal wage. Thatās why I have once again partnered with Ivy Tech Community College to host my annual Central Indiana Job Fair.
On Aug. 1, I invite all job seekers to join me from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ivy Tech Corporate College and Culinary Center, located at 2820 N. Meridian St. Job opportunities from many sectors will be represented including non-profits, retail, financial services, construction and sales.Ā
Attendees can meet directly with companies including Amazon, Citizens Energy, Praxair and many more. In addition, the fair will have a prep room where attendees can briefly prepare to meet employers and learn about resources in our community.
For more information on the job fair, including a full list of exhibitors, please visit my website atĀ Carson.house.gov. I hope to see you there!
