15 new swine flu cases bring Ind. total to 86

Eight new cases of swine flu in Marion County and the first in southern Indiana are among 15 being reported by the Indiana State Department of Health.

A case in Daviess County, about 50 miles northeast of Evansville, is the first one confirmed in southern Indiana.

Five new cases are in Lake County and one’s in Tippecanoe County. The new cases bring the total in the state to 86.

Health officials say 72 of the 86 cases involve people age 24 or younger. Marion County, where Indianapolis is located, has 46 of the cases and Lake County, in the northwest corner of the state has a total of 22 now.

Three people have been hospitalized from the flu but have since been discharged.
