Jason Powell, an Indianapolis minister and worship musician, is launching a new church service geared toward “raising the consciousness of the community to a more heavenly reality.”
Ascension of the Soul will be a “word and worship” service featuring original music and teachings from Powell’s book Mastering Life.
According to Powell, founder of Jason Powell Ministries, “What we think, feel and believe has a direct impact on what our lives produce.”
He said that it’s important for all people to exist in a higher consciousness, thereby producing higher (better) conditions in their lives.
“The one thing that makes this (service) different is the focus on God in you. His presence and power at work in you,” Powell said. This message is one Powell feels people of all backgrounds and faiths can relate to because although the foundation of the teachings at Ascension of the Soul will be based on Christian principles, it is Powell’s belief that “the spirit of Christ is not bound to Christianity.”
When asked why he feels a church service like this is necessary, Powell said it is “more necessary now than ever because people are searching for meaning, significance and answers. This message teaches that everything we see produced in the world comes from whatever state of consciousness man has identified himself with.”
At the heart of Powell’s service is the desire to help participants become aware of their divine identity and leave with “a different concept of themselves.”
“We’re more aware of a declined, degraded form of humanity,” says Powell, “we’re almost unaware of a divine nature within humanity.”
Powell said that the overall goal of Ascension of the Soul is “that people would leave with the idea the assurance that all things are possible with God and because God is in me all things are possible to me.”
The first service of Ascension of the Soul will take place Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. at Amazing Grace Christian Church (inside of Geist Christian Church), 8550 Mud Creek Road.
