United Way seeks volunteers for early childhood-focused Day of Caring

More by this author

United Way of Central Indiana is seeking volunteers to register for its summer Day(s) of Caring on Thursday, June 7 and Saturday, June 9. During those two days, United Way will feature projects linked to early childhood education to help people understand the importance of providing safe and enriching places for young children.

Ā

Up to 200 volunteers are needed to complete projects for various United Way agencies and child care centers. United Way has made improving the quality and safety of child care facilities for low-income children a key strategy as a first step toward better preparing children for school and life success.

Ā

To choose a project, visit uwci.org/dayofcaring. So far, available projects include refreshing Born Learning trails, painting, organizing learning materials, leading community conversations with parents, gardening, playground repairs and more.

Ā

For businesses that encourage employee volunteerism, Day of Caring offers a unique team-building experience and often opens the door for companies to form new communityĀ  partnerships.

Ā

Registration is open to any interested individuals, families, business groups and organizations. For more information or to register, visit www.uwci.org/dayofcaring. Or, contact Lorna McClurkin, at lorna.mcclurkin@uwci.org or at (317) 921-1204.

Ā

If the June Day(s) of Caring won’t fit your schedule, two more such opportunities are being planned for August 24 and 25.
