February is the month of love so it was only fitting to visit a dessert spot. For months I have passed Gigi’s Cupcakes ignoring the “open” sign, but not this time.
I drove my little car in the parking lot, and rushed inside to fulfill my sugar craving. Gigi’s is such a sweet place. It’s a nice size, friendly and filled with scrumptious scents. It’s a perfect spot to meet up with girlfriends. After talking myself out of buying every cupcake, I chose two delectable looking treats – strawberry shortcake and wedding cake. They each were $3.75. I couldn’t have chosen more complete opposites. Let me tell you … yum is an understatement.
My first sweet tooth tasted the strawberry shortcake. Oh, my, that cupcake was a dream. The strawberry flavor leaped from the cupcake, and the icing was a milky cloud. Simply amazing! The wedding cake is one of Gigi’s best sellers. It didn’t have me as excited as the strawberry shortcake, but it was still marvelous. The wedding cupcake is simple and sophisticated, not overpowering in taste at all.
Both cupcakes were soft, creamy and rich in flavor. The desserts are loaded with icing, so if you are not excited about that, they offer mini cupcakes too. Don’t expect to be able to bite into those babies until they are down to a reasonable size. I had to use a spoon to scoop up the deliciousness.
You may have spotted Gigi’s Cupcake Trucks, Scarlet and Pinky cruising on the road. Turns out they also cater events and deliver. They bake fresh cupcakes everyday as well. How pleasant! So if you are itching for your favorite cupcake you may want to call first to make sure your treat is in stock. I was able to snag a complete menu for the rest of winter. Score!
Gigi’s also has gluten-free Fridays. Each Friday they serve three gluten-free cupcakes including birthday surprise, white hot chocolate and wedding cake. Some stores are offering other gluten-free cupcakes regularly.
I’m excited to try the birthday surprise, lemon cheesecake, classic cheesecake and chocolate chip cookie dough in the future. Hey, you can never have enough cupcakes.
