If you love to sing, check out the Fishers Community Chorus. The 2017-18 season will kick off with a social gathering on Tuesday, Aug. 29, to welcome returning and new members. Enjoy some light refreshments and a presentation from the conductor and company manager. The chorus is open to any participant 18 years old and over. No audition or prior singing experience is required. The cost to participate is $75 for the year (September–May) to cover the cost of sheet music. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings at Ji-Eun Lee Music Academy in Fishers.

On Wednesday, Aug. 30, from 7-9 p.m., the Indianapolis Congregational Action Network will host a community action event to inform attendees about the national budget’s impact on Hoosier families. The event will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church gymnasium, 7243 E. 10th St., Indianapolis, IN 46219. Sen. Todd Young, Sen. Joe Donnelly, Congressman Andre Carson and Congresswoman Susan Brooks have been invited, as well. Redemption Outreach Service Inc. (R.O.S.I.) will host Arts and Music in the Park on Saturday, Sept. 2, from 12–6 p.m. at Garfield Park, 2349 Pagoda Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46203. This year’s event will feature several agencies that provide various resources and services around mental health issues.
Come out to the second Black Farmers Market and meet many of Indy’s urban farmers and gardeners. All produce sold is organic and some farmers will accept EBT/SNAP payments. Other vendors will be on hand, as well. The market will take place Sunday, Aug. 27, from 12–3 p.m. at
