Indianapolis’ award winning talkshow Afternoons with Amos celebrates six years on the air and starts its seventh year by announcing that the program can now be heard Live on the Internet on WTLC-AM’s website www.PraiseIndy.com.
Highlights of the program are also featured on the website at www.praiseindy.com/author/amosbrown. Now the world can hear what Indianapolis has since the program debuted February 2, 2004.
           As it celebrates its Sixth Anniversary, Afternoons with Amos has become one of the country’s top local progressive and African-American talk program in America, confirmed by the Fall 2009 Arbitron radio ratings.
           Afternoons with Amos achieved its highest total listenership with 24,900 weekly and 43,600 monthly listeners. And with a 3.1% share of Persons 12+ and a 3.4% share of Adults 35+, Afternoons with Amos continues as the fourth most listened to talkshow in Indianapolis.
           And with a 19.9% share of African-American listening, Afternoons with Amos is the highest rated Black-oriented radio talkshow in any American market.
           Over 1,500 shows, Afternoons with Amos, hosted by Indiana Hall of Fame broadcaster and NAB Marconi Award nominee Amos Brown, has set a new template for radio talk shows combining local, state and national newsmaker interviews with actually listening to listener concerns on dealing with government and institutions.
           That element of service is why the program earned a 2009 Indiana Broadcasters Association Spectrum Award for Outstanding Community Interest Programming.
           In six years, Afternoons with Amos has broken new ground with its live on location broadcasts from diverse venues from the Indiana Legislature, Eli Lilly’s Corporate Headquarters, Marion County Jail, Indiana, , Butler, Ball State and IUPUI Universities, Marion County Jail, an Indiana unemployment office, local public schools, cultural institutions and businesses, even a working city police car and city bus.
Afternoons with Amos is a program that breaks barriers and myths about talk radio. Some 61% of Afternoons with Amos’ audience are women. Overall listenership is 15% under 35; 60% between aged 35 and 64 and 25% over 65; 85.3% are high school grads; 19.2% college grads and 39.0% earn over $50,000 yearly.
