What makes it special: Bethesda Temple prides itself on being a “dynamic, Bible-believing church” with ministries “designed to meet the needs of every individual.”
The congregation started in 1957 after Bishop Edwin H. Vaughn was given the authority to establish a new church by the Indianapolis based Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. Church services began in his home but the congregation grew quickly and within a year relocated to a building at 2245 E. Riverside Ave.
Vaughn passed away in 1993, and was succeeded by Elder Jerry Brown, who brought the church to its current location. In 2002, Elder Royce Fields, a longtime Bethesda Temple member, was installed as pastor, and has successfully expanded the congregation’s teaching and community outreach ministries.
