Author’s Expo, a celebration of local authors and wine enthusiasts, is coming to nearby Anderson on March 23 at the Historic Union Building. The event is free to those 21 and over, and attendees must have a valid ID to purchase alcohol.
Authors who pay $80 for VIP registration can read excerpts from their books, and Tyra Seldon, a former English professor and writing coach, will discuss the writing process. VIP authors, as well as authors who do the $70 regular registration, will have a table where they can sell their books. (Tablecloths and extra chairs won’t be provided, and authors are encouraged to be ready to accept multiple forms of payment.)
Reading is already a relaxing activity for many, but just in case there’s still more to be desired, wine enthusiasts Treva Bostic and Lelia Kelley of B&K Events will share their insights about how to pair the best wines and meals to a good book. Food and wine by the glass will be available for purchase.
Authors of any genre are invited to the expo, which should make for a diverse taste of literature. Expect to find mysteries, thrillers, historical fiction and nonfiction books, among others. Each VIP author will have 15 minutes to read from a published or soon-to-be-published book.
Aside from getting a chance to put their work in front of other writers and members of the public, Author’s Expo is an opportunity for authors to network with each other. The possibilities are enticing: co-writers for future books, or promoters looking for work to prop up. There is only room for 16 authors, including eight VIP authors, so space is limited.
