e school shooting at Newtown, Conn., all of a sudden games are being looked at a lot more closely. As long as games have been around, Iām concerned as to why society has decided to look closer at games now more than before ā even when massacres were occurring then.
Everything is in high definition, flat screen TVās are getting flatter, and theyāre even in 3D now! Me, being a game head to the max, I personally donāt think video games should get the blame for gun violence in America.
Yeah, technology is making everything look cooler now, and game simulations are starting to feel more āreal.ā But that doesnāt give people the right to blame video games for gun violence. America isnāt even the biggest spender on games. Statistics show the Netherlands and South Korea are, and their murder rates are very, very low.
Believe it or not, violent video games are used to help people. Some recent studies have shown that violent games can be helpful with pain management and can release stress and aggression before it can lead to violence. That indicates people who have āpersonal issuesā use violent games to relieve those issues, before their actions get the best of them.
Now it does sound preposterous, but itās actually true.
Video games are very entertaining, especially to teenagers. I mean, what else is there to do when youāre bored, the weatherās bad outside and youāve got the new āCall of Duty: Black Opps 2ā just lying next to your PlayStation?
Video games have been around for so long, and the shootings, murders and gun-violence, shouldnāt be blamed on them. Thatās like blaming a baby for not taking the trash out on time⦠sounds dumb right?
