Chasten Harmon is one of the stars in the new 25th anniversary national tour of the celebrated Broadway musical “Les Misérables” that can be seen through April 15 at Clowes Memorial Hall. In honor of the show’s 25th anniversary, the production has been altered with new staging and scenery, but still maintains the same popular storyline.
Harmon, a Hoosier native, plays Eponine, one of the main characters in the musical, which is set in early 19th century France during the revolution.
“It’s probably one of the most coveted roles for most women in musical theater,” she said recently. “It’s something that I never expected to happen. It just shows that impossible things can happen.”
Chasten received her training at New York University from Tisch School of the Arts. In addition to performing, Chasten is also the founder and executive director of Space on White, a new innovative artist space serving New York’s performance and visual artist communities.
She was honored this week by the Indianapolis City-County Council with a City-County Council Proclamation and was also presented with the Distinguished Hoosier Award by Jamal L. Smith, senior advisor of minority affairs for the office of Gov. Mitch Daniels.
Tickets for “Les Misérables” are still available and can be purchased at the Clowes Memorial box office or by calling (317) 940-6444.
