Summer music festival
The 2010 Indiana University Summer Music Festival runs now through Aug. 10.The festival takes place on the campus of Indiana University-Bloomington and will include more than 50 free and ticketed events.
Internationally-renowned opera singer Angela Brown¨ will be featured at the festival, performing her piece titled “Opera from a Sistah’s Point of View” on July 30 at the Musical Arts Center.
Tickets and festival passes will be available from the Musical Arts Center Box Office.

Art exhibitions
An annual juried, multiple exhibition presentation of contemporary art featuring local and regional artists will be on display at different locations from now until Aug. 27.
The first exhibition will take place at the Indianapolis Arts Garden inside of Circle Centre Mall, 49 W. Maryland St., during regular mall hours.
The second exhibition will take place at the IUPUI Cultural Arts Gallery, 420 University Blvd., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

Annual community festival
Mayfield Green Cooperative will host its annual community festival July 24 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Mayfield Green is a housing cooperative for low- to moderate-income families. The festival will benefit all members of the cooperative.
The festival will consist of basketball tournaments, school supplies, KIDS BMV, entertainment, catered lunch, health vendors and more. The company is also looking for sponsors to help fund this event.
The festival will be held at Mayfield Green Cooperative, 5537 W. 44th St.

Civil war living history event
The 2nd Annual Robert L. Hein-Eaglesfield Estate Civil War Living History Event will be held in memory of Hein, a World War II veteran and Normandy D-day invasion survivor.
The event will take place July 23 from 10 a.m. until darkness falls; July 24 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and July 25 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will be held in Brazil, Ind., 4870 E. U.S. 40.

Concerts
on the canal
The Indiana Historical Society is set to host various concerts on the canal. On July 29, the Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra will perform “Big Band on Broadway,” a salute to the best songs of musical theater.
The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is free to the public.
