Edna Martin Christian Center, One Voice Martindale-Brightwood and MOVE are excited to announce a community day of celebration, fun, food, services information, Trunk or Treating and more at Martindale-Brightwood’s annual Harvest Festival at 37 Place, 2605 E. 25th St., on Oct. 31 from 8 a.m.–4 p.m.

This year’s Harvest Festival will serve as the culmination of a week of opportunities to celebrate the harvest and the achievements realized in Martindale Brightwood that add to its quality of life with services, opportunities and programs in its community.

The week of events will begin with a celebration of the retirement of Pastor Frank Alexander from Oasis of Hope Baptist Church, highlighting his work in community development, neighborhood partnering and missions. This celebration will take place on Oct. 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Oasis of Hope Baptist Church, 1701 E. 25th St. (A retirement banquet will be held Nov. 28 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Harvest Center. Tickets can be purchased at the church office.)

The weeklong Homecoming Celebration for students and community at Martin University runs Oct. 26–29.

Harvest Festival will close out the week Oct. 31 with an 8 a.m. parade through the streets of Martindale Brightwood, and the remainder of the day will be spent highlighting the accomplishments of the Quality of Life plan through the active programs in the neighborhood, such as the WorkSource Vocational Training program, which has trained more than 200 people this year at Opportunity Central under the direction of Tysha Hardy Sellers.

Neighbors of the Martindale-Brightwood area will also have an opportunity to participate in a Town Hall Meeting at noon Oct. 31 to hear updates on the assets of their community and their opportunities for inclusion in future work.

Space is still available for vendors wishing to set up space for the day. For more information on this event, contact Gina Fears, Community Builder for Martindale-Brightwood at (317) 637-3776 or gfears@ednamartincc.org.
