Unemployed will have work-search records checked

More by this author

Many unemployed Hoosiers will begin in-person checkups on their efforts to find work.

Hoosiers finishing their first 26 weeks of unemployment coverage from the state will have to check in before receiving extended federal benefits. Congress passed a law in February requiring that anyone seeking an extension of unemployment benefits submit to the checks.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development announced this week that Hoosiers will have to check in at one of the state’s WorkOne centers to receive the benefits. Anyone who has already completed the in-person review will not have to go to another one. But anyone who does not complete the review could lose their benefits.

Unemployment beneficiaries have to show three places they searched for work each week in order to receive benefits.
