Ah, chocolate – the food that’s simultaneously a blessing and a curse. Elizabeth Garber decided to make the sinfully delicious treat into a product that boasts to be the boss – The Best Chocolate in Town.
Stirring a well worn pot of caramel, Garber tells me, she began chocolate making as a “side gig” in college during the holiday season. This self taught chocolatier saw the demand for her gourmet goodies and decided to open a business.
While some believe Godiva is delicious or Hershey’s hits the spot, Garber states her chocolate has a distinguishable quality. She uses the finest ingredients, there are no preservatives or vegetable oil used in the process and there’s a nice snap when you take a bite, rather than a chewiness. Customers’ selections are also made fresh.
The Best Chocolate in Town has grown over the past 11 years and so have their selections. Garber wanted a good variety of chocolates and other goodies to provide choice. She began with a few items and today has a numerous amount of flavors in items like turtles, dipped pretzels, caramels and other treats.
Garber dreams up flavors one would probably never put together with chocolate, but states her No. 1 selling product are her truffles composed of a flavored chocolate ganache filling dipped in chocolate that creates a hardened exterior. By the way, she’s concocted 40 truffle flavors to choose from.
Customers may fawn over her truffles, but the dark chocolate pecan turtle square followed by the café raspberry truffle are Garber’s favorites.
I had to see for myself what this chocolate was all about.
Standing on one side of the large glass case while Garber happily fulfilled my requests, I chose several chocolates to sample. There was so much to choose from, it got a bit overwhelming, but I ended up with a good mix of chocolate standards and flavors I had never even heard of.
The champagne truffle sounds exotic but stays close to its chocolaty roots. The cinnamon basil truffle was sweet and savory and nothing like I’d ever tasted. The sea salt caramel was seductively smooth and creamy while the salt gave it a bit of a bite. Dark chocolate lovers will absolutely love the dark chocolate turtle. The Best Chocolate in Town also carries ZeaMay’s Popcorn. I sampled this treat in Mocha Cappuccino and it is a super sticky delight.
Of all of the chocolates I sampled, my ultimate favorites (in order) were the melt in your mouth Buttery Toffee; the Kangabar, a mix of chocolate and peanut butter that makes for the perfect afternoon chocolate fix; and the milk chocolate pretzel.
The Best Chocolate in Town fulfills a wide range of orders for customers and businesses and they ship nationwide, so I suggest getting your holiday orders together ASAP.
The Best Chocolate in Town has become my secret weapon for all things chocolate and delicious. It’s made from quality ingredients and most importantly it’s local.
The Best Chocolate in Town is in fact the best chocolate in town.
