The federal government is vast, complex, and touches far more lives than any private company. Sometimes it’s a model of efficiency, yet too often it can be painfully slow to issue a passport or approve a disability payment, which is where my office can help.
Each month my office helps numerous Hoosiers who need assistance with Social Security and Medicare, immigration issues or assistance with the IRS. Although we cannot force an agency to expedite your request or act in your favor, we can help to facilitate the process of navigating federal agencies, encourage prompt consideration of your requests, and sometimes advocate for a favorable outcome.
Earlier this month, we were able to help James, a local veteran, receive $35,000 in retroactive payments after he had waited nearly a year for a hearing. After the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ruled in James’ favor, he received the benefits he was owed less than a month later.
