INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ The Indiana Fever selected Stanford point guard Jeanette Pohlen in the first round of the WNBA draft on Monday.
Pohlen, the Pac-10 player of the year, led the Cardinal to Final Four appearances all four years of her college career. She averaged 14.5 points and 4.8 assists as a senior.
Fever coach Lin Dunn says she plans to use Pohlen a both a point and shooting guard.
Pohlen led the Cardinal to the Final Four in Indianapolis this past season, where they lost to eventual champion Texas A&M in the semifinals. She now will call Conseco Fieldhouse, the building where her last college game took place, home.
The Fever chose Indiana University guard Jori Davis in the third round.
