The Indiana Minority Supplier Development Council recently changed its name to the Mid-States Minority Supplier Development Council (Mid-States MSDC). The change reflects the expanded service area that now includes Central Illinois, Indiana and Eastern Missouri. The Mid-States MSDC, an affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council Inc. (NMSDC) will still be headquartered in Indianapolis with regional offices and staff in the St. Louis and Central Illinois areas.
“It was necessary to change the name because our footprint is now much larger. We have been actively engaged in the restructuring of the NMSDC network and we are happy to welcome certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) and corporate partners from Central Illinois and Eastern Missouri,” said Carolyn Mosby, president and CEO of the Mid-States MSDC.
In addition to the name change, there will be expanded services for MBEs and corporate members.
“We are in the process of finalizing the expanded services. We are also engaging our corporate and MBE constituents to ensure that we are offering what they need and are driving continued supplier diversity opportunities, training, development and results,” added Mosby.
An Implementation Team has been established and is chaired by Cam Willis, former vice president of OfficeMax. The team has corporate and MBE representation from Central Illinois, Indiana and Eastern Missouri. Their role is to guide a smooth transition over the next few months and they will be integrally involved in assisting with hiring additional staff, making recommendations on the new board structure as well as assisting in the selection of additional office space and engaging community stakeholders in the expanded areas.
A new logo and brand for the Mid-States MSDC will be developed and unveiled sometime during the first quarter of 2014, however, the council will begin using the new name immediately and it will be reflected on certification certificates, email addresses and on the council website, Midstatesmsdc.org.
