Get off the couch and go to Coaches Tavern

More by this author

So, the Colts have lost all of their regular season games thus far. I’m sure many people have opted for their own couch and channel surfing between games instead of dropping $100 per person ticket (or more) to attend the game in person.

Instead of sitting at home all day Sunday, grab some sports fans and head to Coaches Tavern to watch the game.

This downtown eatery has a neighborhood feel to it and is the ultimate place for sports fans.

For me, snacking is synonymous with sports so start your meal off with the chili cheese fries smothered with homemade chili and shredded cheese topped with sour cream. If you’re more in the mood for “stadium food” grab a pretzel, chicken strips, nachos with all the trimmings or the Coaches Sliders that come in cheeseburger, pulled pork or breaded tenderloin.

Coaches Tavern has a full-length menu so it doesn’t stop there. They offer five kinds of quesadillas, four kinds of fish sandwiches, six wrap sandwiches and a whole lot of burgers and sandwiches.

Order the Naptown Burger with ranch, bacon and Swiss cheese or the tangy Southwest burger topped with fried onions, cheddar cheese and A1 Sauce.

You already know they offer a pork tenderloin sandwich, but I urge you to shelve this Hoosier favorite and try the prime rib French dip sandwich or the buffalo chicken sandwich.

Speaking of buffalos, one of my favorite game-day snacks of choice is buffalo wings. For only $10.95 you get 12 meaty wings tossed in your choice of sauce served with celery, carrots and of course, bleu cheese or ranch dressing.

Honestly, everything on their menu sounds delish and also pairs nicely with your favorite beer. There are daily drink specials, but for Sunday games, Indiana’s own Sun King Draft is on special as well as Sailor Jerry Rum, both for $4.

For those who work downtown, check out Coaches Tavern’s daily lunch specials that offer a variety of meals for only $6.99.

In addition to the jovial atmosphere, great drinks and tasty food, Coaches Tavern stays open late. Pretty much any day of the week, you can head to this place that is essentially a tribute to memorable coaches and athletes. Plus there are ample TVs and other sports fans to enjoy the game of the hour.

Coaches Tavern is perfect for the ultimate sports fan. Go team!
