Improvements announced at Fashion Mall

Indianapolis’ own Simon Property Group Inc., the country’s largest owner, developer and manager of high quality retail real estate, announced exciting improvements to one of the country’s most productive and fashionable retail addresses – Fashion Mall at Keystone on Indianapolis’ Northside.

The most dramatic enhancement to this landmark retail location will be a widening of the bridge that currently links the westside of the property and the eastside of the property over Keystone Crossing Boulevard and a new functionality for that space. Eight to 10 fashion retailers will be housed in that area and open for business by the 2012 holiday season.

A re-imagined food hall will be relocated to the first level of the mall, just to the west of the bridge. It will contain six to eight unique local and national concepts, some of which will be new to the market.

“The new food hall will be unlike anything in the market,” said Lea Willingham, mall manager at Fashion Mall at Keystone. “The design of the space will create a true gathering place for shoppers and area office workers alike. This experience will be enhanced by new restrooms, lots of natural light, comfortable seating, and an indoor/outdoor fireplace.”

In addition, the entire mall will undergo a renovation that will begin in early 2012 and be finished by the 2012 holiday season. Specific projects include:

ā— New flooring installed throughout the mall.

ā— Soft seating areas added throughout the mall for customer comfort.

ā— Redesign of all mall entrances and updated outdoor signage and landscaping.

ā— Redesign of railings to include contemporary glasswork.

ā— Cosmetic upgrades to the texture and color palette of the entire property.

“We are thrilled to be able to take what is already the premier shopping center in Indianapolis and the State of Indiana to an even higher level,” said David Contis, senior executive vice president of Simon Property Group.

The projected changes announcement follows some recent store openings at the Simon mall. The Art of Shaving and Lululemon Athletica brought their popular merchandise to the shopping center within the past 60 days and just last week, children’s clothier Hanna Andersson opened its doors. Urban Outfitters will open on Dec. 8th.
