Indiana High School Athletic Association commissioner Blake Ress says the girls state basketball finals will be moved out of Indianapolis next year because of schedule conflicts at the city’s major sports venues.
Ress tells The Indianapolis Star a trade show will prevent the finals from returning to Lucas Oil Stadium, the Big Ten women’s tournament will keep them from Conseco Fieldhouse and the possibility of Butler hosting the Horizon League tournament will prevent the IHSAA from using Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Ress says the IHSAA has already contacted Indiana, Purdue and Ball State as possible sites for the 2010 tourney finals.
The girls finals have been in Indianapolis since the tournament began in 1976.
