Fox & Hound has tasty wings

More by this author

The San Antonio Spurs have clenched the NBA championship title and now all eyes are on the FIFA World Cup and your baseball team of choice.

For me, watching sports is synonymous with munching on something. One of my favorite game-day snacks is hot wings. The odd thing is, I never really ate wings before moving to Indy and now I just can’t get enough.

Some restaurants claim to have the best wings, but I think many people miss out on what Fox & Hound has to offer.

Its menu is loaded with good pub food and plenty of TVs to watch lots of sports. Start your afternoon (or evening) of sports with the piled high nachos made with chili, cheese, queso, lettuce, black olives, jalapenos, tomatoes, sour cream and green onions loaded on a bed of crispy chips.

Another good appetizer is the dog bites, bite sized corn dogs with a Parmesan crust served with twisted pickle dip.

The stacked burger (angus burger with appplewood smoked bacon, Swiss and bleu cheeses, carmelized onions and mayo) and the French dip (thin sliced, slow roasted London broil on a ciabatta bun served with horseradish sauces and au jus) are ā€œFox Favesā€ so you may want to check those out.

If you want to dine on the unbeaten path, there are more than 10 other burgers, sandwiches and paninis from which to choose. They even serve various flatbread pizzas and bratwursts two different ways.

Those who want to have a more traditional dinner can choose one of Fox & Hound’s entrees. They serve grilled salmon, char-grilled chicken, fish and chips, chicken tenders and a 12 oz. center cut sirloin. All entrees come with sides such as the Big Easy Rice, roasted red potatoes or coleslaw.

That’s all great, but I go to Fox & Hound for their wings. Their spicy garlic wing sauce is my absolute favorite and their hot honey sauce is unlike any other. I think next time I go to there, I may order wings with their sweet chili garlic sauce or the hot barbecue.

For those who don’t like spicy food, the mild sauce is quite tasty.

Get some post-dinner action in your belly by ordering some dessert. The New York style cheesecake should do the trick.

While you’re watching your favorite sports, wash down all that chicken with an ice cold beer or specialty drink. They also have daily drink specials so you’re bound to get a good deal.

Their food has fair prices with meals ranging from $6.99 to $15.99.

I love the fact that Indianapolis has some of the best sports fans anywhere and that Hoosier hospitality is always evident during game time at Fox & Hound. It’s like Cheers over there! Check it out.
