Residents of Indianapolis’ 46205 and 46218 zip codes gathered at Frederick Douglass Park on Sept. 27 for a hands-on cooking workshop focused on lead poisoning prevention.

The event, organized by the Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD), NAACP Indianapolis branch,Purdue University and Recorder Charities, taught families how to use nutrition to combat lead absorption. With the affected areas having documented high lead levels for decades, the workshop provided critical health education and resources, including gift cards, to empower the community.
