The Asian American Alliance and the Indiana Commission for Women will host their annual International Women’s Day Conference on March 6 at the Indiana Government South Building Auditorium, bringing together hundreds of attendees for a morning of empowerment, education and connection.
The event, scheduled from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., is free and open to the public. Organizers expect approximately 350 guests and 20 vendors showcasing services and products aligned with this year’s theme: “Give to Gain.”
International Women’s Day, observed globally on March 8, celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This year’s theme encourages a mindset of generosity and collaboration, emphasizing reciprocity and mutual support as pathways to advancement.
The conference features a four-part series designed to empower girls and women across four key pillars: entrepreneurship, education, excellence and empowerment. The programming reflects a holistic approach to addressing the challenges and opportunities women face in both professional and personal spheres.
Event Chair for the International Women’s Day Conference Rupal Thanawala emphasized that giving takes many forms beyond financial contribution.
“As individuals, giving support means calling out stereotypes, challenging discrimination, questioning bias, celebrating women’s success, and more,” Thanawala said. “Whether through donations, knowledge, resources, infrastructure, visibility, advocacy, education, training, mentoring, or time, contributing to women’s advancement helps create a more supportive and interconnected world.”
The event represents a collaboration between the Asian American Alliance Inc. and the Indiana Commission for Women. The Indiana Civil Rights Commission, which enforces the state’s civil rights laws and investigates complaints of discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodation, credit and education, is also involved in supporting the conference’s mission.
