If you are on the lookout for a place that has quality food for an affordable price, Nickel Plate Bar & Grill is the hot spot. I was quite thrilled to try this homely eatery tucked away in Fishers.
So with my appetite raging, I decided to be a bit adventurous. I first indulged in their āengine startersā (aka appetizers.) My selection was Mac and Cheese Wedges ($5.99), which to my surprise was crispy goodness. It was deep fried wedges with macaroni and cheese on the inside, accompanied with ranch. Yum!
I also tasted my guestsā appetizers. One consisted of Railroad Ties ($6.99), which are huge, hot breadsticks filled with gooey mozzarella cheese paired with marinara sauce. The other engine starter was Nachos ($6.99), which include tortilla chips topped with seasoned ground beef, tomatoes and black olives topped with a blend of melted cheese and jalapenos. All were mouthwatering and filling.
For my main dish, I ordered from Nickel Plateās favorite list. The Fish and Chips ($7.99) sounded appetizing, so thatās what I settled on. Mind you, I was not able to finish, because those engine starters left me satisfied. Nonetheless, I was able to taste the golden fried white fish filet served with tartar sauce and a side of french fries. Once again, my food was tasteful and the portion size was perfect.
Nickel Plate is definitely the spot to meet up with acquaintances and take pleasure in a good meal. While the weather is still nice, I suggest you dine out on the patio. I did and really enjoyed it. The patio is interesting because itās a narrow setting with a garage opening on the side.
Also, the lighting in the eatery is dim and a television is available for you sport fanatics.
I take pleasure in places with good atmosphere, food and service. You canāt go wrong with those three because they go hand in hand. Kudos to Nickel Plate; we shall meet again.
