Morton’s, The Steakhouse is a place that is all about the best. The best steak, the best service and the best atmosphere.
With 73 restaurants across the globe, one day you could be having drinks at their Puerto Rico location or having a meal with friends in New York City the next.
Arnie Morton and Klaus Fritsch founded Morton’s in 1978 in Chicago. It was their vision to create the ultimate dining experience, meaning big steaks, big wine and big cocktails. The restaurant began expanding and in 1999 they decided to bring the steakhouse to Indianapolis.
Morton’s boasts it has the best steak anywhere and that attitude is well deserved. At Morton’s there is a cut for everyone. To name a few, there’s the New York strip steak, which has more marbling that gives it more taste. The Chicago style bone-in ribeye has even more marbling. Morton’s also offers my favorite cut, the filet mignon. For those with a smaller appetite they offer steaks in smaller portions.
Morton’s is known for its steaks but takes just as much pride in its selection of signature dishes, seafood and poultry. It offers a braised beef short rib, the chicken Christopher, honey-chili glazed salmon, Alaskan king crab legs, whole Maine lobsters and the jumbo lump crab cake, which gives patrons more crab than cake.
To make your dining experience complete, try one of its many appetizers, such as oysters on the half shell or a salad, such as the sliced beefsteak salad with tomato, purple onion and your choice of vinaigrette or blue cheese dressing.
Before the staff has to wheel you out to your car, you have to try the signature dessert, Morton’s legendary hot chocolate cake. It’s a molten chocolate cake with melted chocolate on the inside. When you cut into it, it oozes out chocolate. This delectable delight is also served with a scoop of Haggan-Dazs ice cream. For first timers, it’s definitely something you can’t miss out on.
If you don’t want to have dinner, stop by the bar and have a glass of wine or a Mortini as they so fondly call them.
If you want a snack with your drinks, Morton’s has a bar bites menu that goes far beyond wings and potato skins. Try the petite filet mignon sandwich, a tender filet served on soft rolls with a mustard-mayonnaise sauce. The tuna tacos and the mini crab cake BLTs sound good as well.
Morton’s delicious food is on the pricey side, but because of its supreme quality, it’s well worth the money. Its menu is a la carte, and prices vary slightly by market. The average check for a full dinner for two is about $170, not including tax and gratuity and beverages.
Morton’s, The Steakhouse is a place of pure indulgence. The food is exquisite, the atmosphere is classy, but not stuffy, and the service is friendly and courteous, yet prompt. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or closing a deal in one of their meeting rooms, Morton’s is the place to send your taste buds to heaven.
