SKL Series announces members of Class XLII – Carolene Mays-Medley named moderator

More by this author

Twenty-five young professionals will become more effective community leaders as they learn about the needs and issues facing central Indiana as members of Class XLII of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series (SKL).

Each year the SKL Series selects 25 individuals to participate in this highly competitive program, which seeks to expand the ranks of community leaders by teaching and motivating members to address the needs of central Indiana.

Class members are chosen because of their significant community involvement and professional achievement; their demonstrated interest in community issues; a record of participation and achievement in voluntary community activities; and their willingness to expand their leadership role in the community.

ā€œThrough their participation in this SKL class, these young professionals are investing in themselves as a new generation of leaders,ā€ said Rebecca King, vice president of programs and alumni relations and SKL program director at Leadership Indianapolis. ā€œThey are making a public commitment to playing a key role in central Indiana’s future, and our community will be strengthened by their passion, insight and leadership.ā€

Carolene Mays-Medley has been named the moderator for SKL Class XLII. Mays-Medley is executive director of the White River State Park Development Commission. To ensure that the series is timely and topical, each class’s moderator identifies aspects of broad economic and societal issues that are specific to central Indiana for the class to study.

ā€œIt is a distinct honor for me to serve as moderator of this upcoming SKL class of emerging leaders,ā€ said Mays-Medley. ā€œSKL is a distinguished, impactful leadership series. Through it, this impressive group of young professionals is taking the initiative to grow more effective in community leadership. I look forward to engaging with them over the next year as we explore, discuss and work to understand more fully, major issues impacting our community; and they deepen their passion to make a difference in strengthening and building our future society.ā€

Class XLII will meet monthly from September through June.Ā  Participants will interact with local leaders, professional experts and community decision makers to discuss a range of community issues.
