On Sept. 21 from 7-9 p.m., Joyful Sound Productions will present their 25th annual gospel explosion concert.
“We started with the Circle City Classic gospel music explosion 25 years ago,” said co-founder Pastor Beverly Barney. “This year we’re working in collaboration with Radio One and Eastern Star Church with a portion of the proceeds going to the ROCK Initiative.” Barney stated that community empowerment and helping the youth have been longstanding principles of the organization.
The event, featuring a number of local artists as well as national headliners like Bishop Hezekiah Walker and Israel Houghton, will be a “joyous time” Barney said. The concert will take place at Eastern Star Church’s main campus, 5750 E. 30th St. Doors open at 6 p.m.
“It’s a ministry and an opportunity for the gospel community to come together,” she said. “We want people to come out and worship with us.”
