The Beautillion Militaire scholarship program continues its tradition of recognizing and educating African-American males in grades 11 and 12. More than 500 young men have participated in the program since its inception 32 years ago.
A partnership between Jack and Jill of America, Indianapolis Chapter and 100 Black Men of Indianapolis, the Beautillion Militaire develops African-American young men who have demonstrated a capacity to be critical thinkers, culturally grounded, globally conscientious and purpose driven.
The young men attend workshops focused on topics such as wealth creation and preparing for college. In addition, they attend cultural activities and participate in career development activities.
This year’s 50 beaus will be presented during a formal recognition ceremony and dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday at JW Marriott, 10 West St. The beau who accumulates the most overall academic achievement, service, fundraising and program participation points will be named Mr. Beautillion Militaire.
