The only sport left rolling is boys basketball, and the only team that remains in the postseason tournament is Crispus Attucks, which defeated three teams — Guerin Catholic in the first round, Brebeuf in the semi-finals and Cardinal Ritter in the finals — to claim its third straight sectional title. Shortridge lost in its semi-final game to Speedway.

Crispus Attucks (18-8)
• Feb. 26 — Crispus Attucks 55, Guerin Catholic 49 (first round)
Thanks to a big night from junior Sincere McMahon (27 points, two assists and a steal), Attucks was comfortably ahead of Geurin Catholic for most of the game. Geurin Catholic did mount a comeback to make it close late, but Attucks was still able to seal it.
• March 1 — Crispus Attucks 59, Brebeuf 56 (semi-final)
How about this: One game after McMahon dropped 27 points, senior Harold Bennett came out with 36 against Brebeuf. Attucks fell behind 33-25 in the first half but used a big third quarter to climb back and eventually win a tight one.
• March 2 — Crispus Attucks 88, Cardinal Ritter 69 (final)
Attucks poured it on in the sectional final and didn’t need to win nearly as closely as it did in the first two games. McMahon took over in the second half to run away from Ritter. This is the second straight season Attucks has beaten Ritter for a sectional title.
Shortridge (9-14)
• Feb. 22 — Shortridge 52, Seton Catholic 46
• March 1 — Speedway 63, Shortridge 54 (semi-final)
I was at this game and couldn’t ever say Shortridge was out of it. What really changed things, though, was the Blue Devils starting the second half with three straight turnovers. They never did go away after that — they even had the deficit cut to five at one point — but they couldn’t get the big break.
