The Indiana Department of Child Services will host candle-light ceremonies across the state on April 16, beginning at 7 p.m., respective to local times. DCS offices representing 91 counties will join local officials, child advocates, and community neighbors on this singular evening to unite communities across Indiana in raising awareness about child abuse and neglect, and to encourage greater community-level participation in addressing this tragic issue. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Gov. Mike Pence has also proclaimed April as Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month in Indiana. He will kick off the statewide candle-light ceremony on the Statehouse lawn. All 92 DCS county offices will be participating in child-abuse prevention and awareness events throughout April.
