GREAT VARIETY OF LIVE MUSIC OFFERED DURING MONTH OF MAY AT IMS

INDIANAPOLIS, Friday, April 17, 2009 – An impressive variety of musical acts, ranging in genres from rock to country to funk, will perform during major event days during the Month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Worldwide acts including 3 Doors Down, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Plain White T’s, Josh Kelley and Ryan Cabrera will play live at IMS, with other major acts also scheduled.

All performances are free with admission to IMS.

The parade of talent begins during the Centennial Era Balloon Festival presented by AT&T on May 1-3. Indiana favorite Casey Jamerson will perform her country songs at 7:30 p.m. (ET) Friday, May 1 on the Coke Zero Stage in the Pagoda Plaza.

DNK Records recording artist Josh Kelley and Papa Joe Records recording artist Ryan Cabrera will headline a free performance at 6:30 p.m. (ET) Saturday, May 2 on the Coke Zero Stage. Pop/rock sensations Kelley and Cabrera kicked off their “Tell It Like It Is” tour of the United States April 15. Opening acts will be Brandon Whyde and The Kin.

The Indianapolis 500 musical lineup starts Pole Day, Saturday, May 9, with the legendary funk of George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic. Clinton and P-Funk’s impressive stage show, which includes more than 20 band members, starts at 2 p.m. on the Coke Zero Stage.

Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic recorded some of the greatest funk and R&B albums of all time, including “Mothership Connection” and “Funkentelechy Vs. the Placebo Syndrome” with Parliament and “One Nation Under a Groove” with Funkadelic. Clinton and 15 other members of Parliament-Funkadelic were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

Coke Zero Music Fest on Saturday, May 16 will feature Grammy Award-nominated alternative rock band Plain White T’s on the Coke Zero Stage. The band’s acoustic ballad, “Hey There Delilah,” was nominated for a Grammy in 2008. Hollywood Records artist Plain White T’s is touring to support its latest album, “Big Bad World.”

A contest promoted by Indianapolis’ Radio Now will determine one of the opening acts alongside DJ Orion for the Coke Zero Music Fest, with performances starting at 2 p.m.

Rock superstars 3 Doors Down are the headline act for the popular Miller Lite Carb Day Concert at 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 22 on the Miller Lite Stage.

The concert will mark a return to IMS for 3 Doors Down, which electrified the 2005 Indianapolis 500 Race Day crowd with its performance during pre-race ceremonies and driver introductions.

3 Doors Down’s catalog includes four acclaimed studio albums, which have sold more than 15 million copies combined worldwide. 3 Doors Down’s latest, self-titled album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2008. The band’s 2005 album, “Seventeen Days,” also reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts in 2005.

Other acts scheduled to perform on the Coke Zero Stage include Cincinnati-based alternative rock band Psychodots at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 15 and military rock band Rapid Fire at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 17.

DJ Orion, one of Indianapolis’ most popular DJ’s, will bring hip-hop, rap and industrial sounds to the Coke Zero Stage at various times May 8, 16, 17 and 22.

2009 IMS tickets: Established in 1909, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has long prevailed as an icon of motorsports excellence. Beginning in 2009, the Speedway celebrates its Centennial Era, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the facility in 2009 and the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race in 2011.

Tickets for the three events in 2009 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway – the Indianapolis 500, Allstate 400 at the Brickyard and Red Bull Indianapolis GP – can be purchased online at www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com at any time.
