Recognized nationally as a top professional in supplier diversity, Brenda Burke currently serves as the director of Supplier Diversity Nationwide at WellPoint Inc.
She has worked to increase the breadth of WellPoint’s supplier diversity program so that it included suppliers who are women, minority, veteran, service-disabled veteran, persons with disabilities, and LGBT-owned.
She has also strengthened the Diverse Supplier Mentoring Program to leverage collaborative partnerships between diverse owned suppliers and WellPoint leaders. Additionally, WellPoint has been selected to the list of Top 10 Companies for Supplier Diversity by Diversity, Inc. for 2012 and 2013.
Burke came to WellPoint after working as the director of the Department of Administration for the City of Indianapolis, where she earned national recognition for creating a model supplier diversity program.
She currently serves on several boards, including National Minority Supplier Development Council and the Indiana MSDC, in addition to several charities. She has also earned a long list of awards, including the Indiana Choice Award from the National Association of Women Business Owners and the “Sam H. Jones” Business Advocate of the Year Award.
