Have you ever been out on the town and while everyone around you is ordering wine like a pro, but you’re left ordering something you don’t like, or so nervous to order wine, you resort to purchasing soda? Aren’t you tired of drinking the same old White Zinfandel or Moscato?
Monarch Beverage Co., best known for distributing beers such as Corona, Miller Lite and Guinness, has created a program called Tasting Life that makes wine education and wine tasting easy, because it’s done right in the comfort of your own home.
“It’s not a new theory, but it’s a new channel with wine. We’re trying to bring the experience of a winery to the consumer at home making it easy for them,” said Ashley Johnson, product ambassador manager of the fine wine division at Monarch Beverage Co. “We want to make the wine experience available and enjoyable for all consumers.”
She went on to say that wine drinking has grown tremendously, noting that the U.S. has recently become the No.1 wine consumption country in the world surpassing France, yet many people are still intimidated by wine.
Tasting Life adds a level of comfort, exclusivity and fun to wine education for novices and even wine connoisseurs.
“There’s a wine for every person so it’s a matter of finding what you like,” Johnson added.
To host a Tasting Life in-home wine tasting party, first call a Wine Ambassador at (317) 612-3103 to schedule a date for the event. Next, visit a local retailer, such as Kroger, and purchase prepared tasting packages ranging from $65-$100. Lastly, invite up to 20 friends and family to sample wine, learn general wine information and ask questions. After an hour to an hour and a half lesson, guests are left to sip on their favorite wines.
Those who are more educated about wine can forego a Wine Ambassador and host a Tasting Life party on their own. Tasting Life’s website provides tips to help throw a successful soiree.
When selecting wine, hosts have four types of packages to choose from. In the Indiana Varietal Series, wine drinkers can sample five kinds of wines from different Indiana wineries. The Domestic Varietal Series provides the finest wines from around the U.S.
The Red Varietal Series has all red wine, including pinot noir, merlot and cabernet sauvignon. The International Varietal Series provides six different wines from six different countries, which provide a more global experience.
“This is different from some of the other in-home parties. There’s no purchasing at the end – there’s no hook. We can help direct you where to purchase the wines in relation to your home address,” said Johnson. “You just come and enjoy yourself.”
The Indianapolis Recorder recently hosted a Tasting Life party and employees sampled the Indiana Varietal Series.
Tasting Life is a new program and expected to grow in popularity and help those interested in boosting their wine knowledge to make ordering and purchasing wine easier.
