The name Rev. Mozel Sanders is legendary in the Indianapolis community. Rev Sanders has had a street and housing complex named in his honor, however he is best know for the Mozel Sanders Thanksgiving Day Dinner which currently feeds over 30,000 on Thanksgiving. The Mozel Sanders Foundation carries on the legacy, which not only produces those meals on Thanksgiving to families in need, but address the needs of families all year long.
Each month the foundation distributes over 30,000 pounds of groceries, hygiene, and household cleaning supplies. In order to do that the foundation must have dependable and reliable transportation. The foundations delivery vehicle as a ford expedition with over 180,000 miles on it. The delivery vehicle had begun to give the staff trouble, and was becoming less and less dependable. The legendary auto dealer Tom Roush who founded Tom Roush Lincoln Mazda stepped in and solved the problem the foundation was having, by gifting a delivery van to be used in the delivery of the monthly distribution of the foundation.
Tom Roush is also a legendary name in the Indianapolis community. Mr. Roush who founded his dealership in 1972, had met Rev. Mozel Sanders during his lifetime, as a matter of fact Rev. Sanders’ son, Rev. Roosevelt Sanders Sr, was a client of Tom Roush during his life. So when the foundation approached Roush, about solving their delivery problems, Roush didn’t hesitate in doing so. Because of Roush’ familiarity with the Sanders organization and the belief in their mission, Roush says he felt compelled to do something for the foundation.
Tom Roush Lincoln Mazda’s commitment does not end there. The dealership has partnered with the foundation through the promotions department. The agreement says that if anyone buys a vehicle from Tim Williams at Tom Roush, both Tom Roush Lincoln Mazda and Tim Williams will donate $100 each to the foundation.
This agreement is in effect until December 2016. However you must bring a letter from the foundation to get special pricing.
