Cuban pop-up art exhibit at the Factory Arts District

A two-day pop-up art exhibit at the Factory Arts District will bring 60 Cuban paintings to the Circle City.  

“Havana: Generations of Dreams” is a show containing pieces from three artists and is presented by Cuban Art Indy. The event will open 6-9 p.m. on Oct. 4 and feature an enhanced show the next day with food, beverages and music from 5-9 p.m. 

The three artists — Lidia Aguilera, Raul Lopez Aguilar and Viviana Mendez — are diverse visual artists whose collective careers span 70 years. The exhibit will delve into the current Cuban art movement, characterized by vivid imagery and the examination of self. All displayed works will be for sale. 

“I absolutely fell in love with Havana”, said Alex Katunich, founder of Cuban Art Indy. “You grow up with an idea of what the place is like in your head but nothing could have  prepared me for what I found; it’s almost as if the city is frozen in time. The true gem however were the people, who I found to be joyous and genuinely proud of the art their country produces”.
