Freetown Village is proud to announce the upcoming 2024 Making a Difference Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, at the historic Madam Walker Legacy Center Ballroom. This annual event honors individuals who have made a significant impact in the Indianapolis community. As Freetown Village celebrates more than 40 years of service, this special event will highlight stories of leadership, innovation, and commitment to positive change.
Each year, Freetown Village takes great pride in shining a light on those who embody its mission of “Making a Difference” in the areas of Education, Business, Philanthropy, Community Leadership, and Public Service. Since 2003, the nonprofit has shared inspiring profiles of local and national leaders with its summer campers, providing them with examples of excellence and dedication through its Legacy Series. These stories empower the campers to learn, grow, and build stronger connections with their community.
The 2024 honorees are:
“The Making a Difference Awards provide an opportunity to recognize those who are not only making an impact locally but also influencing change on a broader scale,” said Freetown Village Executive Director, Stanley Dumornay. “Our honorees exemplify the values of hard work, dedication, and compassion. Their stories inspire our young people to dream big.”
The event will feature a formal dinner, special presentations from community leaders, and a tribute to the remarkable 40-year journey of Freetown Village in preserving and promoting African American history and culture in Indiana.
