[Indianapolis, IN] – On Sunday, June 8, hundreds of residents from across Central Indiana will gather at the NCAA Hall of Champions for NAMIWalks Indiana, a community event to raise awareness and funds for mental health support and advocacy.
Hosted by the Indiana chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the walk brings together individuals, families, organizations, and advocates committed to improving mental health care and breaking the stigma surrounding mental illness. This monumental event is among the Top 30 Peer-to-Peer Fundraisers in the nation, and comes to Indianapolis to join 160 other NAMIWalks events across the country.
Every dollar raised through NAMIWalks stays in Indiana, directly supporting free mental health programs, support groups, educational classes, and advocacy efforts for individuals and families affected by mental illness. As demand for accessible, affordable mental health services continues to rise, this event provides a meaningful opportunity for the community to come together and take action.
In addition to the walk, participants will enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities and special guests, including:
Registration is free, and participants of all ages and abilities are welcome. The walk route is 2.65-miles long, right in the heart of Indianapolis along the Canal walk; and the event will feature water stations, rest areas, entertainment, and opportunities to connect with others who are passionate about mental health.
“There’s a growing need for mental health resources in our communities,” said Richard Dixon, NAMIWalks Indiana Walk Manager. “By participating in NAMIWalks, people are helping to ensure those resources remain free and accessible to anyone who needs them.”
