In honor of March’s National Kidney Month, and World Kidney Day on March 13, 2025, the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana (NKFI) is hosting a free Indiana Kidney Check Screening at the Indiana Statehouse from 9 AM to 12 PM.
At this FREE kidney screening, participants will receive a BMI calculation, Blood Pressure Reading, ACI urine test, Glucose test, eGFR Reading (if necessary), and a Consultation with a Medical Professional. Participants will also be able to take home education brochures on many topics related to kidney health.
Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is highly encouraged. To register, call 317-722-5640 or email BSpice@kidneyindiana.org.
Additionally, the NKFI is asking everyone to wear orange on March 13 and post their selfies on social media with the hashtag #WKDIndiana.
Most people are unaware that the risk factors for kidney disease include diabetes, high blood pressure, a family history of these diseases or kidney disease, obesity, or being over age 60. Diabetes and high blood pressure are the two leading causes for kidney disease. People who are Black or African American or Hispanic or Latino are at increased risk for developing kidney disease. Therefore, it is critical that attention be brought to this often-overlooked health crisis. Anyone can take a quick online quiz to assess their risk factors for kidney disease at MinuteForYourKidneys.org.
