Legendary jazz vocalist Everett Greene recently received a lifetime achievement award as part of a musical fundraiser for the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic’s Veterans Justice Program.
The Dec. 6, 2025 event at the AmVets Post 99 included live entertainment from the honoree, as well as powerhouse singers Goldie Ingram and Sandy Lomax, also known as Indyās Queen of Scat; trumpeter Clifford Ratliff; drummer Carrington āClint Breezeā Clinton; keyboardist Steven Alexander Jones; and bass player Bill Myers.

Sandi Montgomery, the daughter of internationally famed guitarist Wes Montgomery, presented Greene with the award for his āremarkable contributions to the city of Indianapolis and its jazz scene.ā
Organizer Steve Barnett said, āOne of the things that blew me away about Indianapolis is we wait until our musicians die and then we want to honor them. I wanted to give him his roses while heās still living and it finally came together.ā
All proceeds benefit Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic’s Veterans Justice Program, which provides no-cost legal services to veterans, including those who are currently homeless or at risk of facing eviction.
