Indiana Sports Corp has launched an initiative to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the 1987 Pan Am Games in Indianapolis. This historic event in our city’s sporting history brought together hundreds of thousands of fans and more than 36,000 volunteers.

This effort provides Pan Am Games volunteers with the opportunity to share their 1987 Pan Am Games memories. A page specifically designated for contributing stories and photos is active on IndianaSportsCorp.com.

“In August, we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 1987 Pan Am Games, one of the most memorable events in our community’s history,” said Susan Williams, Indiana Sports Corp president. “Not only do we want your stories, but we also want to be able to bring people together to celebrate this summer. Our goal is to find as many of the 36,000 people who served as volunteers as possible.”

The Indianapolis Star and Indiana Humanities will feature some of the stories in the coming months as part of the 25th anniversary celebration. Indiana Sports Corp will post photos and highlight memories daily on its web site, Facebook page and on Twitter (@IndSportsCorp), using the hashtag #1987PanAm.

A public celebration is tentatively planned for August. Indiana Sports Corp will provide more details on this celebration in the coming weeks.
