The Indiana Fever will present Hall of Famer Lin Dunn with the franchise’s first-ever Inspiring Women Award during halftime of game against the Dallas Wings on Aug. 12.Ā Ā

Simultaneously, the team will announce that future presentations of the award will bear Dunn’s name, becoming the Lin Dunn Inspiring Women Award.

The double-edged honor recognizes Dunn’s trailblazing 55-year career in women’s basketball, her role as the Fever’s winningest coach and architect of their 2012 WNBA championship and her enduring impact on the sport and countless individuals. The ceremony is the centerpiece of the Fever’s “Inspiring Women Night.”

“I’m deeply honored to receive this award and to be recognized by an organization that has meant so much to me,” Dunn said. “To have this award carry my name moving forward is truly humbling. I hope it continues to spotlight the many women doing extraordinary things in our communities and beyond.”

Fever Team President Kelly Krauskopf, who hired Dunn as head coach in 2008, emphasized Dunn’s embodiment of the award’s values.

“Lin Dunn is the embodiment of what this award stands for, including resilience, leadership and an unwavering commitment to uplifting others,” Krauskopf said. “Naming this award after Lin ensures that her legacy inspires future generations both on and off the court.”

Dunn led the Fever to its sole WNBA title in 2012. As general manager, she drafted current Fever stars Lexie Hull (2022), Aliyah Boston (2023) and Caitlin Clark (2024).

The event sponsor, TELETIES, a woman-owned hair accessory company, praised Dunn’s impact.

“Lin Dunn’s strength, vision and unwavering passion embody everything our brand stands for,” Vice President of Marketing Alyssa Brown said.
