Christmas card for all those who brought us sports in 2025

It’s really hard to fathom that another year is drawing to a close, and with the holiday season upon us, I’d like to use a column to say ‘Merry Christmas’ to a ton of folks and save money on all the nice cards and stamps.

Some of you may call that being cheap, but my standing offer to buy anyone who looks me up at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway a tenderloin sandwich is quite a gift in my opinion, and l now declare that will carry over to 2026.

Since we’re talking about the Cathedral of Motorsports, let me direct Santa to visit all the great people at IMS who provide every possible resource and allow me to frequent their world-class Media Center for every event.Ā

From Amanda Stanley and Suzi Elliott to Paul Kelly and Alex Damron, I’m appreciative of your efforts and hope your holidays are truly wonderful this season.Ā

Can’t forget the exceptional people at the IndyCar Series for all they do, so Happy Holidays to Dave Furst, Kate Davis and Arni Sribhen as they continue to make it so easy to cover races.

The Indiana Pacers were quite the story in 2024-2025, and I’m very grateful for their Media Relations Staff that carries on the gold standard set by the late David Benner. Krissy Myers and Wes Kaminski do a fabulous job every game, and may Christmas be special for them this year.Ā

The Indianapolis Colts have been a rather interesting story this season and while all they want for Christmas is a playoff berth,Ā l must thank their incredible Media Relations staff, which includes Steve Campbell, Matt Conti, and Pamela Humphrey, for yet another season of support and resources that make it a pleasure to cover the Colts.

Can’t forget Tina Cosby at Urban One Radio and the Community Connection show. We chop up sports every Thursday on air as she continues to carry the torch of the iconic Amos Brown and l wish her and the talented staff at the station a great holiday.

To those of you who follow the aforementioned closely and read the Indianapolis Recorder, l hope that your holidays are everything you want them to be and the new year will be prosperous for you.

Thanks for all the emails and phone calls that keep me both honest and on my toes even when you feel the need to take met o task from time to time.

The pleasure has been mine and shall continue to be in 2026.

Finally, l want to acknowledge the Indianapolis Recorder itself and thank them wholeheartedly for an opportunity that has been so special to me. There’s really something incredible going on inside their award-winning newsroom, and for me to be a microscopic part of it is both a privilege and quite the honor.Ā

May all the talented people who consistently put together the only publication in the state with a social conscience have a great holiday with their respective families and be stronger than ever in the coming new year.

Merry Christmas sports fans and don’t forget to reach out and impact the life of someone who’s less fortunate this holiday season and make it just a bit brighter for them as a result.
