Ind. day care center reopens after SUV crash

More by this author

An Indianapolis day care center has reopened nearly two months after an SUV crashed through a brick wall into a room with several children inside.

The Stepping Stones Child Care Center reopened Monday after repairs were made to the classroom wrecked in the Dec. 3 crash.

Police say the two men in the SUV were fleeing from an armed robbery at a nearby store when the crash occurred, injuring four children and a staff member.

Day care operations manager Karee Muhammad says staffers believe there was nothing they could’ve done to avoid what happened. All the injured children were expected to return to the center.

Parent Tawne Vandever says she couldn’t even tell the crash had occurred after the repairs.
