Managed Health Services (MHS) is partnering with the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana and its Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP®) on a special health event offering free health screenings, fitness tips and information on healthy eating.

The Healthy Lifestyle Event takes place March 16 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Calvary Temple Church, 2901 N. Post Road. The event is free and open to the public.

MHS will offer health-related giveaways and have staff available to share information about Hoosier Healthwise and the Healthy Indiana Plan, both healthcare programs available through MHS to qualified residents throughout the state.

MHS will also partner with the following health organizations to provide additional programming:

The National Kidney Foundation of Indiana and its Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP®) will have physicians and nurse practitioners onsite to provide free kidney screenings to all participants.

The Purdue Extension Family Nutrition Program in Marion County will provide a healthy cooking demonstration and healthy food samples along with nutrition advice for all participants.

Strength Factory personal trainers will do a fitness presentation for attendees, offering tips on how to get active and motivate families to exercise together.

“Through the Healthy Lifestyle event, we work to help educate people about various preventable health-related matters, which can be positively impacted through awareness and education,” said MHS CEO Patrick Rooney. “We are excited to partner with the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana and all those involved for this special event to offer everything from health screenings and food samples to ways to get active and improve the health of residents and their families.”

KEEP is a free health screening program offered by the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) for individuals at increased risk of developing kidney disease. Those individuals with diabetes, high blood pressure and/or those with an immediate family member who has diabetes, high blood pressure or kidney disease are encouraged to attend the screening.

MHS is an Indiana-based health maintenance organization serving Hoosier Healthwise (HHW) and the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP). For more information about MHS, visit MHS online at mhsindiana.com.
