“Memories in the Making” art show and auction will be Nov. 4 at the Harrison Center for the Arts.
The show is an art therapy program for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementia. The program encourages and supplies the means for participants to express themselves through art. Through the creative processes of painting, sketching and drawing, the artists can engage in a tangible means of expression that speaks to their families, professional caregivers and to the public.
Groups of five to 10 participants at American Senior Communities have met weekly under the guidance of an art facilitator and volunteers trained to work with those with memory loss and dementia.
As a grand finale, special pieces will be exhibited and auctioned at the Harrison Center, 1505 N. Delaware St.
All artwork is for sale and proceeds from the auction benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
