Paris Rogers-Thomas is Miss Circle City Classic

Reigning over the Silver Anniversary Circle City Classic will be Lawrence North High School senior Paris Rogers-Thomas, the 2008 Miss Circle City Classic.

Rogers-Thomas was chosen Sunday from 22 high school seniors, representing 10 area high schools, in the annual Classic Coronation at the Scottish Rite Cathedral auditorium downtown.

First runner-up in this year’s coronation was Courtney Williams of Warren Central High School and second runner-up was Lena Pratt of Cathedral High School.

Taylor Adams and Latisha Miles, both of Ben Davis High School made the coronation’s top five.

As the 2008 Miss Circle City Classic, Paris Rogers-Thomas will reign over the important Classic activities, from the Coaches Luncheon to the American Family Insurance Classic Parade to the game itself, the first college football game in the new Lucas Oil Stadium.

The other five in the top ten in the Circle City Classic Coronation were: Brianna Mills, Cathedral High School; Ebony Monson, Ben Davis; Kelli Bennett, Cardinal Ritter High School; Jordyn Goins, Ben Davis and Jade Powers, Cathedral.

Since 1986, the Miss Circle City Classic Coronation pageant has showcased the abilities of area young women. Contestants are nominated by counselors, teachers and administrators at their high schools. The young women participate in a series of workshops, interviews and write an essay. They are also evaluated on the basis of their academic achievements, and school and outside activities.

The other pageant contestants and their high schools were: Kaylah Burris, Jasmine Graham and Toni Moore, Lawrence North; Keiana Webb, Rheilyn Beckwith and Brittany Ayres, Warren Central; Mikayla Garner and Lauren Griffin, Ben Davis; Marion Muthama, Franklin Central; Keisha Ricketts, Pike; Lauren McClendon, Lawrence Central; Amanda Willis, Broad Ripple.

Indianapolis Recorder columnist and WTLC-AM (1310’s) Amos Brown and WISH-TV/Channel 8 noon and 5 p.m. anchor Deanna Dewberry again hosted this year’s coronation which will be broadcast Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. on MyNDY WNDY-TV/Channel 23.
